Q: Do I really need counseling or psychotherapy?
A: There are many ways to heal, grow, and meet goals. If you have tried some things without success, find yourself talking yourself out of the reasons you believe you should go, can't find motivation to act, or keep getting in your own way, you might try it and see how it works for you. Like dating, it sometimes takes a few sessions before you can tell whether or not you are n need.
Q: Do you bill insurance?
A: At this time I am only on the APS insurance panel and EAP system. I am likely to be covered out of network for most other plans. I will work with you to make sure you are reimbursed what you can be if you choose to use your insurance. Many of my clients pay out of pocket.
Q: How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
A: You don't! There are many excellent therapists in the area. Finding the right fit is important. My suggestion is that you give a couple therapists a try and go with the one that feels like the best fit personally.
Q: How long does therapy take?
A: It depends on many factors including your concerns, your goals, and how well we are able collaborate together toward those ends. Research suggests that often times people feel better after their first few sessions with a progressive decrease in symptom severity over time. I've been trained in both long-term and short-term work so if you are looking for only a single consultation or a longer-term situation, I am comfortable with either approach.
Q: What will this cost me?
A: My fee is $130 per 45-50 minute session. If finances are an issue, please contact me as I'm able to carry a small number of clients at a reduced fee under extenuating circumstances. If you would like to use your insurance benefits, I can help you submit the claim to be reimbursed.
